Registration for Burning Man tickets starts Today!!! ...and goes until Friday.
Wednesday, March 16, 2016 – 3PM EST TIME (12pm (noon) PDT)
Friday, March 18, 2016 – 3PM EST TIME (12pm (noon) PDT)
I'll get to the full Burner story eventually – in another couple blog posts – but this post is really a Survival Guide. What does that mean? It means, if you want to go to Burning Man, you should probably listen up, and come close because I have "5 Incredible Tips for You."
1. You need a bike to get around.
2. I lived off beef jerky for seven days.
3. A CamelBak is more useful than your non-dominant arm.
4. Every one gives you free drinks – condition: you supply the cup (bring a travel mug with lid).
5. Unless you're "Survivor Man," an RV is essential.
If you don't bring these things, you're in for a reality check.
Whatever you've heard about Burning Man doesn't even come close to the experience. It is not a music festival; it is not an art festival; it is a temporary city set up in the middle of the Nevada desert for 7 days. If you don't come prepared you're going to be that lone wanderer, seeing mirage oases, and having conversations with yourself.
If you want to avoid feeling like you crash landed on Mars – before Elon Musk, who btw goes to Burning Man every year – I'd find a veteran who's attended this spectacle and ask him or her for tips.
Last thing, if you don't register for a Burning Man ticket today, Thursday or Friday...good luck getting a ticket for under $1000, plus factor in exchange rate – that’s going to hurt. So, get em while they're hot http://tickets.burningman.org/
Tune in for next week's Survival Guide article. Why? Because buying Burning Man tickets ain't easy and tickets go on sale next Wednesday, March 23, 2016 3PM OUR TIME (12pm (noon) PDT) for $390 USD. ...and you're going to want to know the secret password/ritual/method for acquiring them. I'll "gift" you the answer – it's the Burner Way!
The Love Affair Collection stems from a personal Tale of Two Cities. Mainly because it involves a character named Sydney, a couple cities and tbh it rly was "the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness".
I made this collection for other Canaliens who may have left part of themselves in another city, too. I feel ya! Be proud of your nomad-icity.
